This is the time of the year again, the release of the Pisa 2018 results from the OECD.

PISA 2018 OECD

Well, Singapore’s ranking has dropped to number 2, behind China this year.

It has been reported that Singapore’s excellent results have improved once more. China, represented by the municipalities of Beijing and Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang (the OECD declines to include results from farther afield because it cannot guarantee their veracity). In these parts of China the average pupil’s maths score is 591, compared with an OECD average of 489, suggesting local teenagers are roughly three years ahead of the OECD average. Mid-ranking countries, including Jordan, Poland and Turkey, have also improved.

For Europe, it looks like Estonia is well ahead of the world known Education system Finland. In my heart, I think Finland is still better, we made an interview with a Finnish school teacher (here), and you will see why.

These weeks, I’ve also been participating in a few events around #edutech and #oceanhack. One of my latest creation is:

Sea You Soon!

I am planning a series of adorable characters to educate children from ages: 4-9 years as a start about sustainability, climate change, ethics, pet care, diet. My aim is to close the literacy gap and encourage with educational content, more girls (especially) on their uptake of STEM subjects. STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, but I also want to add ‘Art’ (English), hence it should be STEAM! 🙂
